CHRIS
HIATT's musical road has taken him to many places. These days
it's taking him down some pretty bluesy streets. Though Stevie
Ray Vaughan IS one of Chris Hiatt's main musical
influences, one also hears the influences of Jimi Hendrix,
Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straits), Johnny Marr (of the Smiths), the
Beatles, Peter Buck (of R.E.M.), and scores of other guitarists
whose records lurk in the back of Hiatt's collection. Chris
Hiatt's own music, is best described by a Portland, Oregon critic
as 'Blues-based-British-influenced-Pop'.
Rounding out the rhythm section is Hiatt's drummer of choice for
over a decade, Washington native CHRIS 'CRASH' KLETTKE. Crash is
rock solid whether playing a dance beat or layin' down a bluesy
groove.
Detroit-born musician TOM E. MAC provides a low-end punch on the
bass that compliments his drumming counterpart without question.
These guys are being noticed for their suberb backup for Hiatt.
In 2005, Hiatt released his fourth CD (self titled). The two-disc
set contains 19 songs fans and critics alike, are calling it
Hiatt's best work.
March 2009 brings the release of Hiatt's first ever live CD, CHRIS HIATT EXPERIENCE LIVE AT BOOTSIE'S HIDEAWAY. The nine tracks (including four Hiatt originals) were recorded absolutely LIVE at Port Orange, Florida nightclub BOOTSIE'S HIDEAWAY. The tracks include a cover of the Doors' 'Love Me Two Times' and the Gloria Gaynor hit, 'I Will Survive'.
The CD's release coincides with Hiatt's 13th tour of Scandinavia and the band's first visit to Canada.
